World news
Top news stories of the past week
1) More tariffs: President Trump proposed a 50% tariff on European Union imports starting June 1, citing a lack of progress in current trade negotiations. The president also called on Apple and other smartphone manufacturers to shift production to the U.S., warning they could face 25% tariffs if they don’t comply. Looks like the only thing getting upgraded faster than your iPhone is the price tag.
2) Google dominates AI: Google made literally 100 announcements at I/O 2025 last week, turning the event into a full-on AI blitz. Headlining the event was "AI Mode," described as a "total overhaul" of Google Search. One thing’s clear: Google’s not just playing in AI - it’s aiming to own the field.
3) Trump vs Harvard: The Trump administration revoked Harvard University’s approval to enroll international students by ending its certification under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Hours after Harvard filed a lawsuit, a federal judge stepped in to temporarily block the move. In a quick response, Germany has publicly invited Harvard to establish an “exile campus” within its borders. Because nothing says higher education like a change of address - and maybe a better beer selection.

3) A Norwegian man woke up to find a massive 134 meter long container ship parked in his front yard. Does Finders Keepers apply?
