"Gambling with World War III"

One of the wildest press conferences of all time just took place. And that INCLUDES all press conferences with Mike Tyson.

In honor of it being “National Cold Cuts Day”, here are the top three sandwiches (not up for debate, don’t @ me). And yes, one doesn’t even have cold cuts.

3. Anthony Bourdain’s mortadella and provolone - five ingredients of perfection

1. La Favolosa from All’Antico Vinaio - locations in the US now too!

Ok, now I’m starving.

World news

Top news stories of the past week

1) Saudi doesn’t want PwC’s advice: Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, which manages almost a trillion dollars, has banned PwC from working with them for a year - a huge blow to the consulting firm. The Middle East has been PwC’s fastest growing region. Why the sudden switch? Rumour has it that details of Saudi sovereign wealth fund had been leaked.

2) Trump bets big on crypto: Trump revealed the names of five cryptocurrencies he wants to include in a new strategic reserve. The coins were Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano - which jumped between 10% and 70% following the announcement. Which countries will follow next?

3) Royal Rumble in the Oval: Trump and VP Vance met in the Oval office with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in what is without question one of the wildest political events caught on video. Initially intended to discuss a rare earth minerals deal, the meeting quickly devolved into a shouting match. At one point Trump literally said “you’re gambling with World War III

Top WEIRD stories of the past week

1) In this week’s edition of “why does that happen to me?” a U.S. bank accidentally transferred $81 TRILLION to a customer’s account instead of the $280 requested. Somehow two employees approved this before a third realized the problem over an hour later. I would’ve bought Amazon so fast.

2) Good news for all the weirdos out there that swallow their toothpaste (shame) – it can keep you alive! A hiker lost for 10 days in the mountains survived off toothpaste. 8 out of 10 dentists agree they should have packed more food and less toothpaste.

3) Have you heard of the Florida Man Games? Events include “Evading Arrest Obstacle Course” and “Beer Belly Sumo Wrestling”. You’re going to want to investigate.

On the edge - Flying cars

Remember how we were supposed to get flying cars in 2015 according to Back to the Future? Notice how you don’t have one yet?

Well APPARENTLY we’re getting closer.

Alef Aeronautics has been building their flying car for the past ten years, and just cleared a major obstacle this week, posting a video of their vehicle taking flight in real life.

However, a few hurdles before you can free yourself from traffic:

  1. This is classified as a “low-speed vehicle” – a class of car limited to 25 mph

  2. You can’t just take off and land anywhere; it has to be at an airport

  3. They haven’t even started production yet

  4. The CEO looks like a supervillain

So for now, flying to work is still a few years away.

At what point does Pimp My Ride get their hands on one?

Investment idea

What are we investing in?

Crypto industry

I know, it’s a volatile one and not for everyone, but there’s a couple reasons why right now could be a good time to research the space more.

  1. US President Trump just announced the crypto strategy reserve (mentioned earlier), so they will be buying hundreds of millions, if not more. Also, more countries may follow suit.

  2. Global liquidity is increasing. Global liquidity is the overall availability and ease of access to money and credit in the worldwide financial system. As global liquidity increases, so too do crypto prices (usually):

Instead of gambling on specific cryptocurrencies, one approach is to just bet that the industry GENERALLY will do better. Here’s three things you can invest in to make that happen.

  1. Trading platforms like Coinbase (COIN) and Robinhood (HOOD). The more crypto trading takes place, the more money they make, and people tend to trade more when prices rise.

  2. Bitcoin miners like Marathon Digital Holdings (MARA) and Riot Platforms (RIOT) usually perform better when crypto prices (particularly Bitcoin) are rising because their operations become more profitable.

  3. Custody platforms, companies that make it easier for institutions to own crypto, like Coinbase (COIN), see demand for their services rise with crypto prices.

But BE ADVISED, these are still very risky investments.

History

On this day…

…in 1934, John Dillinger, the famous gangster and bank robber, escaped from prison using a wooden gun. The guards clearly didn’t look at the gun very closely.
