World news
Top news stories of the past week
1) Nvidia surges ahead: Nvidia posted an outstanding third‑quarter earnings report, with revenue hitting around $57 billion, and data center sales (its core business) reaching about $51.2 billion, beating Wall Street’s expectations. CEO Jensen Huang responded to growing concerns that the booming AI sector might be in a bubble by asserting that, from Nvidia’s vantage point, the opposite is true: demand remains strong and growing.

“Everybody chill..and keep buying my GPUs”
2) Buffett buys Google: Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffett, bought about 17.8 million shares of Alphabet Inc. (the parent company of Google) in the third quarter of 2025 - worth nearly US$5 billion. This foray into high‑flying tech is unusual for Buffett, who usually likes slow‑growth, value stocks. The move suggests that Berkshire sees strong long‑term potential in Alphabet’s dominance in search and its growing investments in artificial intelligence.

AI bubble who?
3) Jobs - Sort of: The U.S. economy added approximately 119,000 jobs in September 2025 - more than double economists’ expectations - but the unemployment rate rose to 4.4%, the highest in four years, as revisions showed job creation in July and August was overestimated by 33,000. Economists warn the mixed signals complicate the outlook for monetary policy, making a rate cut by the Federal Reserve in December seem less likely despite the moderate hiring number. Sounds like good news…ish. Sort of. Maybe.

Top WEIRD stories of the past week
1) Air India just discovered a missing 43-year-old Boeing 737 they forgot they owned, which had been abandoned at Kolkata Airport for 13 years and left off its records. Happens to me all the time.
2) Private equity firms are buying up youth sports facilities and charging families steep subscription fees - even restricting parents from filming games - turning community hockey into a profit-driven business. Next up: a surcharge for cheering too loudly.
3) A leading cryptography society was forced to cancel its own leadership election after one of the trustees lost the decryption key, making the final vote tally completely inaccessible despite the group’s expertise in encryption. Imagine being so good at encryption you even lock yourself out.

How can you level up your finances before the end of the year? Here are five ways:
Maximize your 401k, IRA, and HSA contributions for tax advantages
Make charitable donations before December 31 for tax deductions
Review budget, set new financial goals - use Fulfilled to do both
Check if you have any tax loss savings to take advantage of (Fulfilled also does this)
Start wrapping all the gifts you got last year and never used (42% of Americans do re-gift, so don’t play coy)
For anyone wondering what to get me for Christmas, I’m a simple man, but if you insist, one of these would be nice.
Music
Banger of the week
Something a bit different. For anyone who likes listening to music when they work, I highly recommend this channel. Great calm sets with minimal vocals - helpful to focus.
