Another fun virus!
AI texts aired out.
14 shots of tequila = $300,000.
(sorry for being late today, I was taking my annual shower)

Top news stories of the past week
1) Here we go again…hopefully not: Remember when we were stuck inside for months at a time and a bunch of celebs made this cringy video? Well, hopefully that ISN’T about to happen again, but a new rodent-borne virus called the Hantavirus is spreading, notably, on a cruise ship. Those who were passengers on the cruise ship have been flown home for monitoring. I don’t want to wash my groceries again, please and thanks.

Adorable super-spreader.
2) “Still don’t want me?”: What is one of the most important companies in the world? Papa John’s, correct. What’s another? OpenAI, very good. Remember when CEO/Founder Sam Altman almost got ousted in a wild weekend? Well all the texts through that period between him and his former Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati, just got released. It’s a pretty crazy look at the chaos behind one of the companies literally changing the world.

3) Ceasefire on life support: President Donald Trump says the US-Iran ceasefire is still in place but fragile. He calls Iran’s proposal to end the war a “piece of garbage”. Iran is asking for the US to lift its naval blockade, compensation for war damage, and recognition of its control over the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices are up around 3% today on the news.

I didn’t make this.
Top WEIRD stories of the past week
1) A woman who was served 14 shots of tequila over nine hours on a Carnival Cruise (seems normal so far) won $300,000 in court for being over-served (less normal). Carnival will never financially recover from this precedent.
2) A lady set a world record for lifting 166.11 pounds with her hair for 14 seconds. She trained for six months to do this. At what point does this become a goal?
3) Remember that crazy scandal with JP Morgan from last week? The one where the junior banker accused the executive director of basically making him a sex slave…and then it turned out to be a lie? Apparently JP Morgan tried settling out of court, and the guy didn’t take it. Please tell me Netflix is one this one.

The world is moving faster every day, and here’s proof. AI startup, Lovable, hit $100M less than eight months after the company was formed. Which company will break that record?
